Batch Tracking for Kirana – Explained

Last updated:

Batch tracking means recording which batch each item came from. Useful for expiry and recalls.

When You Need It

  • Medicines – Mandatory. Batch + expiry on invoice.
  • Perishables – Milk, some snacks. Track by date/batch.
  • FMCG – Optional. Helps with expiry and recall.

How It Works

  • Supplier gives batch no. (e.g. B12345) and expiry
  • You record when stock in: item, qty, batch, expiry
  • When selling: use FEFO – First Expiry, First Out
  • Recall: Identify affected batch, isolate stock
